I can’t imagine the dedication and the lack of vanity it would take to be part of the “365 project,” for which people take a daily photo of themselves.

Most of the self-portraits which make it onto my Flickr pages are the result of a spontaneous shoot , or a happy accident (hello, bathtub avatar!).

So although deliberate self-portraits get me all angst-ridden, on this occasion I wanted to put up a kind of signpost… because, well, there’s no easy way to say this.

I’m 40 today.
